Austin — Jack Martin, chairman of Public Strategies, Inc., has named Dan Bartlett president and CEO of the firm he founded in 1988. Bartlett will assume his new position effective March 15, 2009.
"I'm pleased that Dan has agreed to assume this new role," said Jack Martin, founder and chairman. "Since joining Public Strategies in 2007, Dan has brought critical new thinking into the firm and has significantly contributed to the development of an aggressive growth strategy."
Jeff Eller, the firm's current president and CEO, will assume the role of vice chairman. He will continue to work closely with Vice Chairman Mark McKinnon. Among Eller's responsibilities going forward will be leading the firm's Washington office and growth strategy. Eller served in the Clinton White House as deputy assistant to the president and director of media affairs.
Bartlett will be joining COO Meredith Marks in managing the day-to-day operations of the firm.
"Public Strategies' success is a result of the experience and expertise of the people who work here," said Bartlett. "I'm honored to assume this leadership position and continue the firm's growth as a trusted advisor to clients around the world."
Bartlett joined Public Strategies as a senior strategist in November 2007 and provides strategic counsel to the firm's largest accounts representing key industries such as finance, telecommunications and defense. Drawing on his years of foreign policy experience while serving in the White House, he has directed the firm's international growth, providing advice to leading multi-national firms and global institutions. Bartlett is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Texas Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and a fellow of the school's Center for Politics and Governance. He also serves as an on-air political analyst for CBS News.
